Other stuff like Thirty 3, Tortoise, Mogwai (Saw them at 1st Ave two years ago, blew me away) Broken Social Scene as well, will be playing again sometime soon. My list can go on and on, but I will not take up any more space.

Oh, and if anyone here from Mpls interested in starting an instrumental post-rock type outfit PM me, I play drums.
yes, all of those. GY!BE was and probably will be, the best, loudest, but clearest show I'll ever see. I saw a low quality video of an old Mogwai show where they played Christmas Steps. You could see the crowd jump and stagger when the bass comes in.

Another vote for Melvins - awesome.
If anyone is into Alt. Jazz you should check out a british band called Acoustic Ladyland and their slightly mellower sibling Polar Bear, they are simply incredible and great live. Almost, dare I say it, Punk Jazz...
Other bands I'm listening to a lot at the moment are Discordance Axis, Mastadon, Soilent Green, Mistress, Boris, High On Fire, Charles Mingus and other stuff along those lines...

Been friends with Jon and Chad for years.

I used to run Drag's old label back when I lived in Ft. Fun.

We've probably been at some of the same Starlight and Aggie shows.

"Get Drunk" is still a backyard BBQ staple.

man, discount will always be one of my favorites. i did a few shows for them back in the day and they crashed at my house but i lost touch with all of them not too long after their last show, which was amazing! 36 songs!

I have yet to see Godspeed live. It's pretty bad on my part, they played the weekend I moved from St. Louis to Mpls, and then up here at 1st Ave three days later. Stupid me missed both shows 'cause I was broke. I woke up this morning with 'Levez vos skinny fists comme antennae to heaven' on the brain. The record is playing now. Who here is a vinyl freak like me?
Hey Adam, is Tortoise playing near your hood on this upcoming tour?

right on, I'm back into the Presidents of the USA now too... fave song by them at the momemnt: "meanwhile back in the city"

a toronto band that I just found about a week ago called the 'Uncut' - https://www.thenewviolence.com/

also a pittsburg duo (kind of beastie boy[ish] very interesting lyrics):
Grand Buffet
https://www.grandbuffet.com/

(I'll be in awe if anyone else has heard of them, even more so if you listen to them...)

YES! Bobby Conn is pretty much the best thing ever. My girlfriend and I met at a Bobby Conn show in Chicago at the Hideout in 2002. I actually saw him by himself in New York a couple weeks ago, took some photos and was gonna make it my avatar, but my CF card got corrupted and I lost everything. But yes, Bobby Conn is amazing (except when he plays live with a computer instead of a band... wasn't a good intro for some friends I cajoled into going to the show...).
