I'm ordering a Surly Steamroller tommorow but I can't decide on a size. I'd get a 57 or 58 and be fine but the only come in 56 and then jump to 59. I know people say that they like there track frames a little smaller than normal but I just want to make sure. Anyone close to my height (6 foot) ride either of those sizes? What do you guys think?

I'm 6 feet exactly. I ride the 56 - it has a 56.8 cm top tube (that's probably the most important dimension to get right), and that's even a tad (like 0.5 cm) bit long for me, but I have a short torso and long arms.

Steamrollers tend to run a bit long. I'd go for the 56.

I just gotna Steamroller frame a couple of weeks ago but have yet to put it together. I think it's the largest or close to it, maybe it's a 61 or 62. I'm 6'2", so I figured it would be a perfecr size. My current rig, an 04' Pista, is a 61cm frame, and it fits me perfectly. I think you should go with a 59cm frame, but that's just my opinion. Roll with it, baby.......

If it doesn't look like it's your size, why bother?

I believe that size is measured center to top. So a 56 is more like a 54.5 or 55 and the 59 is more like a 58. As another poster said, the top tube length is more important. I think a 56.8 cm top tube would fit a 6'0" rder well. So I would go with the 56 if I were you.

i'm 6'1" or 6'2" ish, with long legs, and ride a 56cm steamroller. and it doesn't look goofy or undersized at all. very comfortable.

Yeah, my Steamroller seems a little heavy, but then again I'm compairing it to my Pista, which is slightly lighter, but who cares at this point?

Tell your LBS ******* about my Steamroller. It's plenty light.

[Edit: Ok, I concede that the frame is hardly the lightest thing ever, but unless you want to blow through the 15 lbs. barrier, you can still make a Steamroller pretty light, i.e. less than 16.5 lbs when I'm done.]
