Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Looks like there's more racing in the full length documentary (from Cinecycle). Anyone know when that's supposed to come out? I've been visiting that site for about a year, and I think they started making it a while before that. Are they still making it?

You have to have the torrent software open before clicking on the torrent on your desktop, also it doesn't start playing immediately, you have to wait for it to download, so if you have a 56k modem you will need to be online too I think.

I have created a different torrent tracker, one that allows for better stats and descriptions. The new URL is https://xxxxxxxxxxx.com/xxxxxxxxxxxx (the old one was just biketorrent) Please start using this one. Also, if you've already downloaded it, please help seed the new tracker for me? I'm gonna seed as much as I can. I put all of the Brunelle videos up as one file, 500m. I hope he doesn't mind. I'm going to start seeding all the ones that are on the old tracker there as well. I'm terrible at explaining the concept of bittorrents, so if anyone would like to write a breif explanation, as well as a short explanation of HOW to do it, I'd appreciate it.

Downloading a torrent does nothing. It just allows you to connect to other peers and get the file from them. You use a BT client like bittornado to use the .torrent files to download what you're supposed to download.

After you install bittorrent it should be associated with .torrent files. After you download the .torrent file, BitTorrent should open it automatically and start downloading after a few minutes. If this isn't happening, maybe you will have to open BitTorrent maanually and do File/Open and then open the .torrent file yourself..

The software you downloaded from bittorrent.com is all you technically need to download torrents, but there are a lot of nice apps out there that help manage the downloads and keep things nice and organized. A few that I have used and recommend are:

Azureus (Good on Linux)
ABC
Bittornado

okay, just downloaded it from the site (not the torrent) and here's my question: when they're holding on to the cars (holding on, not just running their hands along the side), how do they keep up? I mean, wouldn't you need a freewheel? or are they skidding?

If you notice one of them has a geared bike and coasts. Alfred rides fixed, but he's probably just soft-pedaling it (i.e. - letting his legs go limp so the cranks pedal his legs).

I threaded the bittorrent onto my hub, but the lockring won't fit. I think I stripped it when I was trying to download the file and install it on the wheel. I made sure my chain was online, but my bullhorns were dialup. Um.
