what does 'proceeds' mean? a portion of?, all proceeds? (obviously not), etc... i'd like some specifics is all.

i'm not suggesting anything shady by this post, just wondering as the site doesn't say.

It says on two of the items; the chrome bag and the helmet. $10 on the chrome bag goes to the BMEF, and $5 on the helmets.

I'm not a religous man myself but appreciate anyone doing good, even if only for the good they do with no regard for their motivations. It's nice of them to help out the BMEF as it's about to go broke. There has been a recent rash of injuries and when the next round of payments go out it'll be 1 claim away from dry. Anyone wants to chip in now is a good time to do so.

Ohioans seem to be quite religous. There are six churches within five miles of my house and I live in a town with a pop. around 5000.

This just makes me wonder why more Amish don't ride bikes more. Maybe they do and I just don't realize it, though in my experience they seem to prefer the horse and buggy or walking. Do Amish ride fixed? It is old-fashioned and simple, things they seem to prefer.

i think some amish forbid the use of rubber tires. or is that just on their buggies and farm equipment. no rubber tires on a bike would be rough.

I was at Cycles Gaansari yesterday to visit with them and pick up some pedals I ordered. I saw the Skidstrong bike built up (but not powercoated yet) and Justin doing his tricks on it. One sweet ride, very light too!

The Bicycle Messenger Emergency Fund is certainly a good cause, but I think this is exactly why the US needs National Health Care so corporations and small businesses shouldn't have to be burdened with having to provide health insurance for thier employees. I know, I know, "Socialism", but half of all bankruptcies in the US are because of medical debt and that's just not fair and right.

I think that it means that the items were donated, so most, if not all of the money goes to it. At least, my naive and optimistic mindset hopes so. For the ones like the Chrome bags and helmets, there it does say, so no guesswork.

Not only are K-RADs awesome on both street and dirt (everything but thick mud), they're also dirt cheap; $15 each. I've never been so excited about a tire except for maybe the tires with the footprints on them back when I was a flatland freestyle rider in 1987.

I also think that the skidstrong name is pretty weak, and it overshadows the fact that they have a really well designed fixed gear frame. Come on, fender eyelets, decent tire capacity and a threaded headset! And it comes in up to a 64cm. It's the best designed fixed gear frameset in my opinion for the price. However, they could have it produced in Taiwan for about half the price, and then lower the retail price by 25%, making it more profitable for them and cheaper for us. It's just a well designed tig welded frame after all.

Prejudice is bad, obviously. But that "tiny minority" does seem to make up the majority of those in power and of influence, which is why it may seem like Christianity as a whole is being attacked. That "tiny minority" makes up the most visible portion of Christianity, in my opinion.

Most people, I believe, who "***** about Christians" are not *****ing about the average Christian but, rather, about Mr. Christian Right who hates gays and baby killers, and who I belive the average Christian does not support either. I think that distinction is clear.

I think the people who attack Christians across the board are also in a tiny minority.

I'll agree it's the most visible portion of Christianity, but one can easily counter that by saying that militant jihadist Muslims are the visible minority of their faith. It's the ones with the big mouths who get the attention, while the people actually making a positive differenece are so under the radar people aren't even aware of their existence. My intended statement was not say that they are in any way equal in the effects to the recipient of the abuse, my intent was to say that prejudice is prejudice, no matter who the target is. Truth be told, prejudice hurts the one who is making the pre-judgement more than it does the person they are pre-judging. The more you close your mind and assume that someone doesn't have anything to offer that is of value to you, the less of value you will get.


Angry words, mockery and yelling just close minds and make absolutely sure that any good you might have to give to someone is totally lost, because now they've judged you to be an unlistening person who isn't worth helping or receiving help from. Why would you accept advice from someone who's just told you you're an idiot?
