I know all about doing things on the cheap, and the neccesity therof. See my project in the Pictures thread, but a tolerably good welder could have repaired that frame in less time, and for not much more than the $40 he paid for that weird-ass seatpost. I understand some frames are designed for that, but this one looks like another disaster waiting to happpen, and if it rips out it's going to be a lot worse to repair than it is now.

Sleaving the tube would make it as strong as new, or stronger. Ugly, but It wouldn't damage it more than it already is.

I actually like this idea a lot. There is a welding instructor at my school that supposedly helps kids out with bike woes for free, because he loves bikes. I think I'm going to take this idea to him and see if I can have it done.

EDIT: I also happen to have a 25mm seatpost (mavic) that would be good for something like this. I would also like to add that this is the first piece of constructive criticism I've seen in this thread. Thanks for not being a dick.

You need a new frame and Veloswap is coming up on the 29th. Be there and pick up a new frame and fork on the cheap.

What size frame do you ride? I might have something laying around you could have.

Where is this Veloswap on the 29th?
