trackstar pake
 

i was in trackstar today.. and there was a 49cm pake with straight bars and a 650 front wheel that looked about as fun as anything with 2 wheels.. someone should buy that..ok? thanks..

it gave me 650 front wheel fever..

It's actually a Soma Pake.

did i say it wasnt? it just happened to be in trackstar...unfortunatly i read this forum way to much to not know what that bike is.. but it was a nice build

I actually just bought one from a shop in MA, should get to me sometime this week.

you should mabe think about a 650 front wheel and some straight bars and you'd look like youre going for the speed record at the salt flats....who doesnt like that look.

I think Soma is embarrassed by it or something. The Pake is definitely on there in a way that makes you think its the company not the model name. Not sure if the Soma name even shows up. Feeling the 650s though, but more on the Zic Zac, both wheel tip.. Wonder how the Pake would do with a 650 on the back?

is it a pursuit frame or did someone just put a 650 in the front? Did you see ceya's sannino pursuit, too bad it doesn't fit me.

Pursuits are fun and all, but they take their toll on your back after awhile.
Maybe it's just me, but I couldn't ride my pursuit 7 days a week. I had to
switch it up with one of my other bikes every 3 days or so. Carrying all
that crap while being sloped down so much..... It was a blast to ride though.
Oh yeah, I had to go back to a 700 for racing reasons.

I think that if you need to tilt your saddle's nose down so much, there's a fit problem (or you've [not QuartersMostly, personally] got interesting anatomy). I mean, it's a problem if you want to ride that bike for more than 15 minutes. I say, get rid of the track stem and the drops and enjoy the bike.

Not embarrassed, they simply don't want to confuse their brand identity.

SOMA is known for having quality Taiwanese-built frames from name-brand tubing. They recognized that companies like IRO found that there was a niche for quality off-brand frames and decided to get into that business. But you can't have people getting confused.

As I mentioned in the Pake thread, you don't see Corolla's advertised on the Lexus site or the Focus on Volvo's. It's the same thing.

That picture was taken right after I put the bike together. Yeah, right after those pictures I went on a ride and adjusted the seat up. The stem is a bit much, call me vain but I just like how it looks.

quarters . I rode one of those for a year messengering and all i did differnt was have a straight neck was great and im 6 foot

here's my pursuit bike. i have the original fork on it now, which kicks the front wheel forward a bit, making it much less twitchy. it's a blast to ride, especially with those handlebars. i've tried it with drops, bullhorns, and risers. so far, my favorites have been these. they're SR "North Road" bars that i got from jitensha studio here in berkeley for about $25. the only thing i really want to change is the seatpost to something nicer/lighter like a thomson, but what i've got works just fine for now, and i probably wouldn't notice any weight difference while i'm riding it.

and it hurt your back? thats so weird.. i wonder why that is.. yea.. youre right.. pursuit bikes are no good.

last year i got a battaglin pursuit frame(650 in front, not 24") and its the one of my favorite bike. i dont do too much high milage on it, but for a ride around the city, its real fun.
ive tried all types of bars and stems on it and i find a 90 degree stem an risers are the best. I had some bullhorns with 40mm of drop on them and it was crazy unsafe for me, plus i thought i was gonna go impotent. i def. dont think i could handle it with drops
i know some people in this forum have pursuits with 24" wheels and that seems a little much for me.

The bike at Trackstar has a 650cc wheel due to the size of the frame. it is a 47or 49 cm.
