I dip the bell sweep. But I wear is the tirreno firenza which I've only seen at performance, and right now it's extra cheap.

It's comfortable and doesn't look too bad, even on my big rectangle head.

I have this helmet. Strong and light. It's saved my mellon twice. It was under $30.

I know new Pro-Tecs are rated/designed to withstand multiple impacts, but "real" bike helmets (Bell, Giro, etc...) are not.
That thing is like some weird hybrid, though. So, I dunno what rule applies to it.

I'm a big fan of Limar helmets - https://www.limar.com
One of the v. few helmets I tried where you didn't notice that you had a helmet on. Crashed in one and did its job. Hard to find in the US though I always seemed to find them on sale when I needed one.
I'd personally always change a helmet after a serious knock/crash. Why take the risk?

Pricepoint.com has a nice Giro E2 for sale for $60, marked down from $160.
