okay so I did search on this topic...but it didn't answer my question. So my bike is making noises...like maybe creeking but I'm not sure how to describe it....but not all the time...just sometimes...in different situations...sometimes when going super slow...sometimes whilst pumping it up the hill...sometimes on flats....just this creeking....like "creek creek" and then it stops and then later "creek creek"...

...so I took it to a bicke mechanic...he checked the pedals, the crank bolts, the headset...and some other things but couldn't tell me what it was. three guys at the shop took it riding and two of them said they heard nothing and one said he heard a "tick"...so anyway they couldn't tell me what it was and said it might just be my toe clips making a sound....but can my toe clips make a short creeking sound?? they are on super loose...they sort of just rattle when you flick them.....anyone have any ideas??? it's driving me crazy!!

take everything off, grease the threads, put it all back on.
it's a PITA, but tracking down a creak is a hassle...

Bikes: Too Many

The first 2 places I look are the stack bolts (chainring) and your seat. Does it happen only when you are seated? If not there then listen to dolface - tear her apart and rebuild her. She will thank you.

wait--the bike makes "arrrrrgh" noises?

Maybe you have pirates in your downtube. I'd guess ninja's, but they are silent.

obvious, but chainring bolts?

can you make it creak when you're not on it, with the bike upside down, to locate the noise?

my bike has an attached chainring with crank arm btw. and it doesn't creak when I'm not on it.

my handle bars somtimes creak when i put a lot of weight on them, either my pulling up or pushing down in similar situations to what you described. But then again, I have a fairly old beaten up bike.

So im going to say handlebars... maybe?

if my crank bolts are just a little loose, there is a slight creak in my drivetrain

I hear the aarrgh. Cars are the same way and never act up in the shop.

I have a simple question for you. Are you heavier or stronger that the mechs who tested it? I am asking to see if you are applying more force than they did.

Bikes: Lots. Mostly steel. Mostly heavy. Mostly geared, and very low, at that.

I second the seat, check the seat clamp, put a bit of grease on it where it contacts with the rails and try a bit on the post as well.

I once had the nose of my brooks making noises at me and it took me a LONG time to figure it out. If you've got an older leather seat with moving parts, grease 'em. Basically, Dolface got it right. If you don't find it with random parts people suggest, pull the whole thing apart and grease EVERYTHING that has metal contacting metal. It helps you learn more about your bike as well as stopping annoyin'-ass squeaks.
