Powder coat for $30

Powder coat for $30
So I dropped off my Trek beater at a powder coating place to get prepped for winter use. I almost shat myself when the guy quoted me a price of $30 for blasting and coating. If there's an interest, I'll keep everyone posted about the quality of the job as that's about the cheapest price I've seen for prep and coat on a bike.

Yeah, please post the name and address. For 30$ it's totally worth shipping.

i think if people start mailing them loads of frames, they will realise that they are under priced and bump it up to whatever other shops charge. i'm guessing the only reason its so cheap is because the rarely (if ever) get this sort of request.
edit: i'm not saying you shouldn't try, it might be worth a phone call. they could need the business. i'm just saying don't expect it to stay that cheap if demand skyrockets.

Just got back from picking up the frame. I have to say, for $30 they did a great job.

I'd like to think that the Jeebus on my fridge approves as well.

That or, realising that bikes are a lot cheaper than the cars they normally do, they could keep the price low and start advertising a bit. Use this easy work to fill in the slow days when no one needs their racecar painted. If they are cheaper than everyone, they can corner the bottom of the market on a few colours and thus expand their locally limited business plan.
