disclaimer: i don't actually use any NJS parts, so take my lowly opinion with a grain of salt.
njs is a "standard," which means that everyone racing needs to equip their bike with parts that meet (but don't exceed) that standard. someone posted something recently about the dura-ace 10mm being banned by keirin racing (or something like that). case in point? i have no doubt that njs parts are excellent. really. but aren't "superior" parts (however you define "superior") excluded from the standard to reduce the advantage that would be gained by using "superior" parts? i guess i "get" the njs thing if you're trying to replicate a keirin bike. but as to why, well, everyone has her/his own particular reason for it. |
Answering the initial question.
Araya Gold 36 hole in NJS certified. Soyo Tires have a couple of options of Keirin approved tubulars. I forgot now but there's a specific brand of spokes that are approved if you wanna keep true to the njs thing. Keep in mind you will have tubular wheels and the tire is VERY expensive hard to skid on. Not ideal for street use... Now I can't understand why people make fun of NJS when they have matching tires and Velocity Deep V rims and grips... it's all a fashion statement. |

I know someone with NJS pantographed on his ReLoad bag. And yeah, he rides a 3rensho that's almost full NJS. |

I'm all for njs stuff, most of my bike is njs, the usual stuff like bars and stems thats common, but the need for njs rims and tires is beyond me. Is it a collector thing? or a showoff thing? or just for yourself knowing that your bike is purebred njs?
I'm not attacking the OP, just had to get it off my chest. I love my 3rensho, and love njs parts because they are quality and look nice but just can't understand the extreme obsession that goes into a head to toe njs bike. chimbly, I think the spokes are stamped... like they have the tiny stamp on the headsets. Ceya, feel free to school us... OP, njs rims needs to be 36 hole and I believe tubular only. |
they have binder bolts with j.p.n keirin stamped on them..

Hoshi spokes..is one ok I wasn't going to say much but here we go again . you just want to have a complete grouppo.. when you buy an italian frame full Campy, so Keirin frame full NJS. my tires are gone with stamp.
