NJS Rims and Tires

I know most NJS certified stuffs are stamped or marked on the part, and its not hard to look up and find out what parts are, but where would you get certified rims and tubies? are all half decent rims and track tires certified? I wouldnt think so.... I only ask since in my boardem i may start collecting parts to build an NJS bike.

There was a thread recently about this - do a search or look a few pages back.

In short: Araya for rims.

Bikes: several. blue. fun.

i wonder how they stamp the tires... or the spokes, for that matter...
do they paint njs on tires?
do they stamp each spoke really really small?

tee hee.

I still don't understand the need for a pure NJS bike... why do you need a bike thats completely NJS? are you planning to race in keirin races or sponser a racer? Not to be mean but it just seems so superficial to the point of ridicule. I'm all for njs stuff, most of my bike is njs, the usual stuff like bars and stems thats common, but the need for njs rims and tires is beyond me. Is it a collector thing? or a showoff thing? or just for yourself knowing that your bike is purebred njs?

I'm not attacking the OP, just had to get it off my chest. I love my 3rensho, and love njs parts because they are quality and look nice but just can't understand the extreme obsession that goes into a head to toe njs bike.

chimbly, I think the spokes are stamped... like they have the tiny stamp on the headsets.

Ceya, feel free to school us...

OP, njs rims needs to be 36 hole and I believe tubular only.

Are there NJS ball bearings?

Grease?

Is there NJS air for the tires?

NJS wrenches to tighten all the parts?

Why do people restore cars? Whats the utility of a model train? Trivial Persuits? Why drink coffee when you could just take NoDoz? Why collect all 4? WHY DOES FASHION EXIST?

Its gotta be njs ink with njs needle or else it won't count. and yes, it must be on your ass or bottom of foot.

I'm getting a 'made in Taiwan' tattoo when I get a chance. No joke...

there's a girl here in DC that has the tattoo. i found this out when i told her i've been wanting it since I got the 3rensho.

it was decided that i can't get it until i've actually ridden the 3rensho on a track. sounds like my sunday afternoon pursuit. know any good parlors in northbrook?

no, i'm not kidding. let the mockery begin. (oh, and in advance: f*ck y'all.)

I used to not get the whole NJS completist thing for people not participating in keirin races.
but after looking at all the NJS goods for a while i totally get it.
The quality is super nice. so solid and cleanly designed.
I'd like to hook up my new korean frame with as much NJS stuff as possible.
I don't think i'll be getting NJS rims, spokes and tires though.
I would also love a nitto jaguar seat pillar too, but not now, can't afford it.
i'm still trying to find a sugino 75 crank at a decent price.

Thats what I mean, I'm all for njs, but I stop short of spokes rims and tires. I love the jaguar seat post but I don't want to pay a hundred for a seatpost, instead I actually like the miche supertype much more and I got lucky and got a used one for cheap.

Good luck with the Sugino 75, they are getting more and more expensive because people are realizing what great cranks they are and what a deal they are or used to be. I think Business cycles raised their prices on the 75 also.

Chimbly... wha? huh? why? doooh! nah, thats cool, but it better be the size of your entire back.. yakuza style. I'll be getting my 'made in taiwan' tat soon too. Gotta rock a little asian pride... and yes, I'm was made in Taiwan.

I second the 3rensho tat... much cooler... any of the 3rensho logos are pretty nice design wise.
