Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Im not a labor historian or an electrician so how much should I really know about IBEW? Come to think of it there is an IBEW clubhouse in lower haight, but its just a building not an outreach program. Ive never seen any activity in it.

Wow, that's flattering. But, I'm still pretty new (just passed the first year of work), and I like my jobby job in CT just fine for now. Good luck filling that position though, I know how hard it is to find people in the field.

Sure sure. I'm only two years into this gig myself, but I learn very quickly. If you know of anyone in our similar situation who's looking for work in Berlin, put 'em on to me. If not, the boss wants me to go up there. Not that I have anything against New Englandahs, but I'm a Phil-town man.

speaking of the labor movement... i'm a "senior campaign communications specialist" for a union. i do pr and writing and stuff. me good riter.

but it's always temporary. i usually jump ship at jobs after 2 years to hit the campaign trail. i love campaign organizing and management. i have a hot lead for a ballot initiative campaign in WI right now, may take that.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to say that you're too ignorant or anything like that. I just know that it used to be the case that the initials of major unions were the kind of thing that people just knew (like the way that we know what INS is even if we're not immigrants). I guess it is no longer the case (the labor movement generally having declined a lot), and that's what I was lamenting.
