Bought a folder for $2 at a yard sale with the same end in mind. The fixie rider at the LBS thinks it shouldn't be a problem. Except that if this project is anything like my previous projects I should just chuck it...my conversions spiral out of control faster than military contracts.

About a month ago somebody had a Raleigh 20 on Craigslist Philly for around $40. I was the second person to email them so I did not get it but I had the same Idea in mind .

I've got two junky dahon folders (came as 3 speeds) that I turned into low-geared brakeless fixies (for me and the wife). Work great. Cost about 50 bucks each. I started putting my unused fancy parts on mine just for kicks because they weren't being used. I've probably got one of the only dahon classic 3's with carbon and titanium parts on a high-ten frame...
