yeah, i've snapped 2 sets of those cheap alloy Ales. friends have snapped other sets too, always that same kind. i second the steel mks ones. or old steel cristophes.

I have cracked a couple of the Shimano 105 plastic clips, but the steel DA ones I have now have held up well. Those pedals and clips have completely destroyed about three pairs of shoes, though.

i snapped a MKS steel a few weeks ago. i taped it together with weird rubbery duct tape that i bought at a dollar store. it's hella annoying.

marcelinyc 11-18-05 02:31 PM

get plastic!

Do you have washers on under the allen heads? I usually try to make sure I put those on to help support the clip.

Terror_in_pink 11-18-05 02:35 PM

i'm going back to MKS.

Anyone seen any steel gold clips?

and yes, washers underneath.

+1 Christophes if you can find them. I've seen some that were covered in rust and were still plenty strong.

totally. they are way strong. seen some with leather covers stitched on so they don't chew up shoes. mine have been going good for the 5 years i've had them, and they are from the 70s... so thats what, 35 years strong? trustable. (i know, flawed logic, but still)

spud 11-18-05 04:20 PM

i think its flawed diction too

drac_vamp 11-18-05 04:21 PM

do tell.

spud 11-18-05 04:27 PM

trustable is in no dictionary of mine.

drac_vamp 11-18-05 04:30 PM

trustable, not a word. or, an invented word, but it does get the point across. "to be trusted" would be a better choice of words. point for you! thanks!

diction, though, relates to word choice and enunciation, not to the use of made up words. if we are claiming that this word is not really a word, which, in fact is true (as conceded above) then diction wouldn't apply as diction only relates to the use of actual words. aha, point for me.

we both win.

spud 11-18-05 04:34 PM

i'll let you collect the facepunch prize :)

drac_vamp 11-18-05 04:37 PM

facepunch? dictionary? ;)

46x17 11-18-05 05:19 PM

Don't worry!

Once I rule the world I'll have public hangings for words that are not in the dictionaries too.

drac_vamp 11-18-05 05:25 PM

griffin_ 11-18-05 05:26 PM

If we kill the offending word no one will be able to use it anymore,so we all will be able to write properly.

All will be well and all it takes is a little violence.
