Selle Italia Nitrox Saddle

Anyone have one of these? Are they comfortable? I see them on the bay all the time. I hate the graphics on it, but i imagine i could get them off.

No. They are not. Spend the money on a Brooks B17. You can get them for under $50. The nitrox is not good.

I ride a Nitrox and it's definitely not comfortable. I'm still a little sore in the nethers after La Calavera! The good news is your ass rubs off the graphics after about three miles of riding. Still, it's been fine for most other rides.

Suits me just fine. No problems with it. Those that say it's uncomfortable probably don't have an ass that matches it and vice versa. You never know unless you try. It's a saddle, personal preference.

i am planning to get a brooks for the fixed folder i'm building right now, b/c it's a classic bike (raleigh twenty) and needs a classic saddle. but my regular ride is a converted 80's fuji racing bike. it's shiny salmon pink and i thought that color saddle would probably match it. i just need a new one and don't have much cash. a block of wood would be better than what i have.

Bikes: Custom Richie Ditta Track Bike, Eddie Merckx Corsa, Marioni Custom Pista, Dolan Cyclocross

Theres not much padding on them and the plastic underneath is pretty rigid so while it looks like an SLR or high end racing saddle, it acts very much like the cheap piece of tat it is.

The top is very smooth and sheer, so in the wet especially you just slide all over your saddle; its a pretty weird sensation.

They look good and sparkly (well some of them), but I would personally spend my money on saddle I wanted to sit on for a long time. I hated mine and I only paid 3 bones for it.

These are cheap saddles without much to recommend 'em and don't be fooled by the Selle Italia name, every company has at least one black sheep in its closet. Black sheep is though a very fine beer.

But I'm sure somebody out there likes 'em, thats something I've learnt about saddles. But why risk it?

And yes the graphics rub off easily, mainly cause your butts sliding all over this thing as you ride.

yeah, i figured as much. my saddle is one of those stock pieces of poo they put on low-end cycles in the eighties and it has got to go. i could spend $50-$60 on a saddle i guess. it's pushing the budget, but i really need something i can ride. currently my ass always hurts by the time i get wherever i'm headed. i definitely don't want something i'd slide around on. that is one of the issues with my saddle now, i always feel like i'm sliding forward on it.

One cheap option I found was to find a LBS that sold a lot of road bikes. They normally have a bin of all the take off saddles that people used for test rides. People dropping a grand plus generally want to throw on a brooks, SLR, Fizzik or similar and so the functional but decent saddle on the bike gets tossed/upgraded.

I picked up my current saddle for 15 bones this way and its a decent Selle Italia that suits me fine.
