as was mentioned, minor threat's "straight edge" coined the phrase, and out of step and bottled violence and a couple of their other songs sort of fell in line with that.

i personally think the idea of straight edge is great, i of course dislike the intolerance some straight edgers have for none straight edgers, as much as i dislike the intolerance some non straight edgers have for straight edgers. it's no different.
