I think as they've become bigger, and begun doing things on a larger scale, there's been a change of direction with what they want to achieve in their music. Some might call it maturing, others might say they've copped a dose of reality, or maybe it's just an unavoidable progression. Either way, I think nowadays they just want to make music that will make people be happy and dance.
It seems to be a common theme with passionate DIY bands who go major...achieving a connection with the audience becomes more and more difficult to do on any level other than good times and dancing, so that's what it turns into.
I (still) love Against Me!, and always will. They have been such a major part of my life that I can't discard them just because they no longer make the same kind of music or make me feel that same way. I can only appreciate their new songs for what they are, and continue to love their old stuff with every beat of my heart, because it would be unfair to do anything but.
