Mmmm, cardboard.

msrp $9999.99

Scary... I actually really like LOOK's other bikes. Those lugged carbon road frames are hot. I know a guy who has one and it feels nice.
|
ugliest garbage ever.
|
The thing has thighs. Ick.
Cole |
meh... I think that they require you to buy an IROC before you can get one of those frames.
|
slvoid, what else'll get you fixed?
|
two or more illegitimate children...
|
i hate the modern, fiber look in bikes usually.
that thing actually looks pretty sweet. but then i drive an iroc-z. |
yum, but having had the chance to ride one i'd rather have a corima.

I love lugged steel, but you can really make some beautiful frames out of carbon.
Gorgeous bikes. http://www.bikecult.com/works/archiv.../aegisFGrs.JPG From Bikeworks |
Y'all don't think it looks like a high-school gym teacher? Jeez, look at those stays. Looks like big meaty thighs. Then up at the headtube, it looks like shoulders and head with no neck. Blegh. Yick. Puke. Etc.

wtf is up with that headset?
three of those bikes would be worth more than the yearly GDP per capita of 2000 African farmers put together. |

Gorgeous bikes. http://www.bikecult.com/works/archiv.../aegisFGrs.JPG From Bikeworks I've ridden one of these branded as a Peugeot. It was geared (8spd Chorus), but that thing was frikkin' sweet! Stiff and one sweet handler! Cole |

Cole As to the curved seat tube, my understanding is that it's used to make the ride more strongly damped rather than to bring the wheelbase shorter. The arced tube flexes differently than a straight one. I love mine, and was really interested to see that one fixed (with dropouts apparently from Aegis.) http://subtle.org/se/pictures/misc/aegis1.jpg |
If it spreads beyond my balls into my lungs or brain...

Gorgeous bikes. http://www.bikecult.com/works/archiv.../aegisFGrs.JPG From Bikeworks that's nice. the other ones in this thread are ugly ****, but i guess if you're getting a bike like those, you're not getting them for looks.... |

I have a lugged carbon Look. It is one of the nicest riding bikes I have ever ridden. Each tube is shaped specific to it's orientation on the frame and the tubes are butted. I have over 5k miles on it and I never tire of it. It it does get rather jealous of my track bike though... IMO, that crazy Look track thing is a bit overkill...unless your a racing winning velodrome freak. |
DW... i've always wondered WHY those look bikes are 10k... is it the materials? does that much labor really go into making those? is it to absorb bikes that end up with imperfections? is it to make up for the insane R&D that goes into them?
i guess this goes for any frame that's over $3k |
that Look frame is the national frame of the French team...as it says with the F.F.C.
Now, when I was at the world championships...almost 90% of the sprinters and kilo/500m/pursuiters had these frames. It was amazing. In one of the keiren heats the entire fork/front wheel went flying in a crash. That headset is meant to split upon contact. It has a pin in the headtube that will break under pressure inorder to save the frame from complete distruction... Now, for the other racers I only saw one steel bike. It was being ridden by a rider from Greece in the points race. He got 2nd that night. I know what was ridden cause I had front row seats... Steel is real. Unless you have 10k then they can make something better for you! |
Fugly.

I want to ride a fixed gear space ship!

Looks like a robot

Most of the lines on these carbon bikes look like they belong in a sci-fi movie. No class, all futuristic 'bew bew' and curves. I'm probably just effete. It's all different tastes, and thus this conversation is like discussing pizza toppings, but I'm just not a lover of technopop in any mode of design or aesthetics. |

I dig the Look bikes immensely. I also like spacecraft, robot, and the like, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Wa are living in the 21st century, you know, and perhaps our track technology isn't subverted too much by advancement in materials and design.
To paraphrase Don Walker: " It not about how it looks, it's how it performs". To paraphrase Ceya : "Look at the seat clamp!" :) |

http://www.freebike.net/pub/attach/48/487341_99.jpg Or maybe it doesn't, 'cos it is that big-ass joint beam thing that broke... |

i just flatout disagree with that! if that's what he said i sure ain't gettin' no custom from him! it's all about the look! believe me. in your heart you know i'm right. :) |
