I'll admit that i do feel a small(!) amount of wind getting around the frame/lens. But very minimal.

i work at a small alternative high school for kids with SEVERE emotional and behavioral problems. there is one kid (out of like 50-60, it's hard to get a count because most of them have spotty attendance and/or a propensity for getting arrested) who is out and proud, and he is always getting called gay or a *** or whatever. my response these days (aside from writing up a behavior referral) is to gasp in mock astonishment and say something like "oh, no, not GAY!?" or "God forbid anyone be different", although this last is often delivered with more of a stinging sarcastic tone.

the point is, i really haven't been riding at all this winter, and i'm kind of ashamed, but i do remember eye burn. it's really the worst. i support the goggles in every way.

I got a pair of saftey goggles at Home Depot yesterday for around $4. They're great, and totally solve the problem, except when you need to see to the side.

okay. so eye coverage. yeah. this is my first winter riding and it is getting really cold out (under 30 is 'really cold' for richmond) and every time i ride my eyes are watering and i can't see **** and it burns. i need to get some eye coverage, but the worst part is the fact that i have to wear my glasses or i can't see ****. so whatever i wear will have to be able to fit comfortably over glasses. i guess i'll give the hardware store safety goggles a shot. hopefully those do the trick.

also: the knit cotton gloves i am wearing, while they do keep my hands from going numb, do not keep the cold out... and it's only going to get worse as the winter goes on, i'm sure. suggestions for snug/thick/warm gloves please!

I have some suggestions for both items. I commute 12 miles round trip every day in chicago. As for gloves, get yourself a pair of thin wool glove liners from an army surplus store. This will be warm enough for any weather above 20 degrees. Then get a pair of LARGE neoprene gloves. Check a hunting store or outdoor/climbing/camping store, they might carry them. It is important that they are large because you will wear the neoprenes over the wool gloves in very cold weather, and if your circulation is decreased by too tight of neoprenes you will be worse off than no gloves at all.

I used to rock bell riding goggles. These are PHENOMENAL. But I lost them at target one day. They made me look no more ridiculous than I usually do.

I have since replaced them with the most pimp thing ever. WWII RAF pilot replica glasses from an army surplus store. Not only do they protect me from the rain/snow but they also cover half of my face so they keep me pretty warm. I have never been accused of looking *****exual because of them, but I sure do get some funny looks. Also they decrease field of view significantly, so I try to only wear them in precipitation. I post this pic only because I thought I could surpass Shants' pic in ridiculousness.

Also, I wear glasses most days (my eyes dry up like cotton w/ my contacts, and even down here in sunny Florida i've been tearing up. I wear SMith BAzooka sliders for longer rides and that usually cures the problem

I know nothing of wearing contacts, but I get the eye burn with the cold and downhills. I purchased a pair of Rudy Project Kerosenes on Ebay that keep out the wind pretty well. If you've got the money or find a deal on them they're great glasses, but they totally make me look like a ***. Seriously though I got mine for less than sixty shipped, from some guy in Israel. Try the Rydons for better coverage and possibly better looks.
