my early christmas present

I recently made a promise to myself to try and ride and possible race this spring/summer. Probably race at kissena and the thursday night races at prospect park. I was planning on buying a new bike but really didnt have the cash to. so instead i bought a new wheelset from nashbar. I was all excited about my new purchase until today. My fiance remebered me mentioning the deal at chucksbikes.com and this was waiting for me when i got home. well it was in the box but you all get the idea It was pretty much assembled except for the stem and seatpost. Miche hubs, sugino 75 49 tooth crank with a 15 miche cog in the rear. I will probably put some nitto bars on and see how that feels.

Sounds like you've got a keeper there. And I'm not talking about the bike

That's a great deal. I was tempted to buy it for the drivetrain, and selling the rest of the components. If I had the capitall it woulda been a good deal on a Miche track group.

Oh yeah, and great fiance as well. Color me green.

I've seen your 04 on fixedgeargallery. How is it riding in the streets? I noticed that the downtube seems kinda thin.

I've used the bike for the track more than the street... its a pretty darn stiff frame. The orig Ritchey stem was very flexy. The tubes are 'drawn' so yes they are pretty thin... I wouldn't toss a heavy lock and chain on there. its a really tight bike. I like that wheelset too and since using the Miche carrier/cog thing (which I like a real lot) I've put it on a couple other wheelsets.

That was really nice of your fiancee. Are you going to save this for the track or ride it on the streets too?
