Let me check my method here:

X = Your age in the year 2008.
1900 + X = The year you were born.
2008 - (1900 + X) = Your age in the year 2008.

Therefore, 2008 - (1900 + X) = X.
Therefore, X = 2008 - 1900 - X.
Isolate the variable, and solve:
X + X = 2008 - 1900.
2X = 108
X= 108/2.
I still get 54.

54 is the age he'll be in 2008. also, he was born in 1954, so...............

so that means he's 51.
