Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Damn. I've been here almost 2 years (2 years in Feb to be exact) and I have nothing really to show for it. Yes, I'm more knowledgeable in my fixed gear and track bike terms and mechanics and am fairly more mechanically inclined now. But, I've still got the same old converted Miele. I spoke a bunch of buying an Iro or an off the shelf fixie but never did. Heck, I didn't even buy a fixed rear wheel. Maybe I don't need that track bike or fixed rear wheel that I lust for. Maybe I'm just happy with my fixie conversion. Yeah, that's it. Or maybe I'm here for the comraderie of fellow fixed gear/track bike enthusiasts discussing poutine, pie and messenger bags and trading spokecards with like minded people all around the world.

Sorry, needed to vent. At least now I've got some funky spokecards to put in my wheel!

Here's to $0.00/gallon for organizing the whole secret santa spoke card thing! Can't wait to see everyone's designs!

September of 2006 will be my two year ann. Actually I was a lurker for 4 months before I joined this crazy community. 'Twas one of the best decisions I've made concerning bikes..
