fenders for a mark v?

I've come to the conclusion that I could really benefit from set of full fenders for the rest of the winter. The only problem is that I'm not sure what will fit. Ideally I'd like to (easily) mount a set of SKS road fenders, or something similar. Does anyone have any experience hooking up a Mark V with fenders?

the sks raceblade fender would work, or at least i'd be willing to bet on it.

I'm sure you could get the SKS raceblades on there. I've got 'em on my KHS aero for the winter. I wrapped the fork and stays w electrical tape in the area where they attach. word is over time they can scratch your frame.

You can make just about any fenders fit just about any bike. Just cut to fit. Search the forums for "fenders" for more details.

I threw the cheapest narrowest bike planet clip on ones in there. You need to squeeze the plastic to get it through, but its easy. I hold the thing up with a couple zip ties, works beautifully.

the one draw back its that it prevents me from using my favorite foot on the back wheel emergency braking technique. Not that I'm planning on breaking a chain (knock on wood), but it is nice to have that option...

I ended up getting the SKS full commuter fenders from Nashbar. I can confirm that the Mark V has adequate clearance for both front and rear fenders - even with a front brake attached. I ended up mounting both using 4 zip ties, and the included brackets that bolt to the front and rear brake mounts. and I've had no problems at all - took me a grand total of 20 minutes. As long as the zip ties continue to hold out I'll let them be. While I'll definately be taking them off once the roads clear up, they don't look half bad. Here's a webcam pic of it:

Now all it needs to do is rain

Bikes: heh, like that info would fit here...

and for better rain protection, punch a couple of holes horizontally near the bottom of the front fender and bolt on a mudflap. You can make mudflaps out of anything (scrap rubber, plastic, leather, etc.) I usually just cut up plastic applejuice jugs. The mudflap keeps sitting water on the road from being kicked up by your tire into you shoes/cranks/bb

they come with mudflaps already attached.

as far as summer rain, i'll probably only rock a smaller and more portable rear fender - just to keep my ass from getting soaked. it's not the water that i'm concerned about - it's the salt and the sand that serve to rust the **** out of my bike.

i rode through the heaviest downpour i've ridden through in recent memory, so i got to see them in action. the difference was amazing, as the back of my pants and my feet stayed dry. the zip tie method also held up nicely against the pitted streets i ride on daily. all in all they make my winter commute a lot more comfortable. i only wish i had put them on sooner.

sers-
what size tires are you running? 25c's are kind of on the tight side, but they fit. just a little more fine tuning, but i like its new look...

i'm running 23's, forgot to mention that. i ended up rotating the front of the rear fender all the way down to the chainstays to keep as much water as possible from coming forward.

i figured as much when you said it only took you 20 mins. 25's require a bit more time, especially in the rear, but there's plenty of room i just need to add a couple links more to my chain and slide it a little more to the rear.

with all the work wouldn't you know it was sunny and clear, so i left it home and rode my other bike in order to grab a rotary tool to trim off a bit of extra metal and make the install worthy, which by the way was a very hard thing.

but i also knew there was nothing at work to get, but did mention i would gladly ride and pick up stuff tomarrow- get this... on my day off, knocked my mgr for a loop, but i just can't wait to show them that i'm down to do all the running around, by bike, its why i added the rack and fenders-

ok drinking too much, i'd better stop...
