Custom Headbadge and sizing

So my first fun project of 2006 is to run a small batch of custom 1/16" thick painted steel head badges for myself and a few others, but I'm wondering what the standard size I should use is (2nd project is going to building up a new bike, but first thing's first). I guess what i'm asking is if 1.25" Is gonna be too wide? I don't have my bike on me and wanna send the files to our water jet tonight, would someone mind checking real quick for me if using up that much room on a bike with a 1" ID headtube would be too large?
