Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? in the south it's like 60-80 dollars tops, and that's with the cool colors. Powdercoating ain't anything special.

ok, then since space is at a premium in the city and everything costs more here in general, $100 seems like a decent deal.

It depends what they do. I have seen/had some very nice powdercoated frames and some very poor powdercoated frames. I have one that cost $60 that has runs, drips, and chipped/scratched easily. I have an $80 one that was a metallic blue sparkle with a clearcoat that has been crashed on the road and still has no noticeable scratches, anywhere.

Point is, I would find out what the quality/process is for $100, because if its as good as the frame I got done for $80, its still well worth $100. I think the clearcoat makes a huge difference, so look into it and see if thats included.

Yeah, Spectrum charges a lot. This is a $400 dollar (not including shipping) job. The quality however, is excellent - that's all powder, no decals. However, it does hide lug shorelines, so be wary. Spectrum's the best, other powder coaters can make your lugged frame look like garbage.
