hop a bus down to NYC and ride back up with us!

that camping trip sounds pretty awesome. i talked to someone about camping out on Long Island but it would involve to much gear for too little payoff.

While I would love to, I won't be back in Boston for a minute. I'm sort of officially a man without a country. I've moved out of Boston, living in temporary housing in California, and in a few months will take up long-term residence in Dublin, Ire.

Eventually I'll make it back to the hub.

Did you ever figure out how much weight you had on the bike on your camping trip?

BTW what's going on with the new bike?

No idea how much I was carrying. It was a respectable amount though.

Mike says my frame shoudl be ready sometime in March. I'm debating about how to get it and move it, whether I'd rather have it shipped straight to Ireland with insurance and all that, but end up paying the EU tariff or to have the movers take it (who are also insured, but it would probably be harder to make a claim if anything happens to it).

someone here on bikeforums never got around to reading through this thread, but everyone keeps on asking him if he's doing this. So, since that particular someone is too lazy to read through the whole thing, can someone sum it up for me? Rithem tells me the plan is to do a century out to Montauk and wreck Msngr's parent's place, then hop on a ferry to CT somewhere, ride to Providence, wreck Providence, then ride to Boston.

when's it happening? Who's doing it? If my schedule permits, I might be down.

march 24th (fri) - 26th.

day 1: take a train out to babylon, ride to the end of long island. since no ferries run out of montauk right now, debate surrounds whether we should ride to montauk then backtrack to the the northfork, or just stay on the northfork fri night.

day 2: take a ferry from long island to new london, ct then ride to providence.

day three: providence to boston

there's a list in this thread of people who said they are down.

this kind of sucks... I finally set a date for the surgery on my shoulder and it's 2 weeks before this. I would have really liked to at least do the providence to boston leg. The doctor says I have to wait two weeks until I can get on a stationary bike! **** it what do doctors know... I'm doing this.

haha withnail, i'd take it easy and listen to the doc. if this ride is as fun as i imagine it'll be, i'd also be up for doing some variation on it this summer.

Did you get a milage count for each day?

yeah rough milage, but day one and two differ pretty greatly depending on what we decide to do at the end of long island. staying in montauk adds about 15 miles to day one and 30 miles to day two.

day 1: from babylon to the northfork is around 70.
day 2: from northfork to providence is about 60
day 3: from providence to boston is about 50

this is jd from yh

I obviously can't meet up for a meet and greet as I am from Boston but I am pumped about this idea and would love to do it. The weekend before I am planning on doing a 6 day road trip to the rockies and back. It will be intense. I really hope this works out. I unfortunately am never really online any more as I am busy as all **** but I have not forgotten about this. I can prolly come out to NYC Thursday night and be ready for the morning. Should prolly replace either my cranks or headset or both before I go though, and I will.

i was thinking about this today and if i'd be ready for it. i've have what is apparently a urinary tract infection for the last week or so that had me pissing blood and having lotsa bladder and kidney pain, so i haven't been riding much. i'd be up for pushing it back a bit. i could probably still swing the weekend we currently have planned, but i might have to take it a bit easy.

i'm no doctor, but cranberry juice does wonders for uti's. you can buy tablets of cranberry concentrate at the 'Vitamin Shoppe' or 'GNC'. i sympathize for you...

i've been chuggin cranberry juice, but UTI's in males are way more rare than in females and a bit more serious, so i'm also on an antibiotic now and have a follow up with my doc on fri and am getting referred to a urologist for a complete check up to make sure all is good.
