I agree with that statement wholeheartedly. The only thing it has going for it is that it is cheap. Remember that place that had the 30-cent cheese slices that got shut down for voilating every health code known to man? Those were the days...

Slices is pretty good too. My opinion, however, may be coloured by the fact that my friend Ryan worked there for years and always hooked us up with free food when we rolled through town.

in NYC, two boots and PIE have good vegan slices. most real italian pizza spots'll have decent to really good margherita slices though.

we ate at this place called Pizzadelic that was really yummy. It was right next to our youth hostel in Mount Royal... Quebec City however, better known for their Poutine than their Pie.

when I lived in Boston I used to hit cinderella's in central sq for pizza or a calzone and then toscaninis next door for the free ice cream samples. fyi, they (toscis) give away their pastries at the end of the night. or at least they did when i lived there.

In London (which not surprisingly has completely crap pizza unless you wanna spend a grand) city pizza on pentonville rd has 7 inch pizzas for a pound. Not good by any stretch of the imagination but cheap and it's on my road.

Sure, the 'delic is ok for "european" pizza - it's good, but I won't call it pizza. I worked at the Shed Cafe for a few years, and I made a mean Pizza Titi, but I prefer to think of it as a disk of raw dough covered with sauce, cheese, and some components and baked for about ten minutes until the cheese bubbles.

QC? Poutine? That saviour of working class fare in the white collar snob capitole nationale where the people of the Haute Ville say the people in the Basse are "d'une autre menalité" because they work for a living? Surely you jest, sir/madam! And if you say Ashton, them's fighting words, unless that's the only poute you've ever had, in which case I'm sure it was a revelation, as poutine is about a hundred million times the sum of its parts.

Then again, my experience is limited, and hell, they say the best Indian restaurant in Bangalore is in the Holiday Inn, so anything's possible.

Patsy's up in spanish harlem has great slices, one of the few "legendary"(lombardi's, grimaldi's, etc...) spots that will actually sell slices.

1$ slice in manhattan 36,37 or 38 and 8 ave.

DiFara's. Way out in the ass end of brooklyn, E 15th and Ave J. Better than any pizza in the world, except possibly in Naples. No exageration. Unlike anything else.

I kind of enjoyed pizzadelic as well, but I've only been there once. But you're right, it's not really a "classic pizza". There is definitely a lot of cheap ass food in general in Montreal though, so the fact that there's cheap pizza isn't really that big of a deal.

I'm ashamed to say that I haven't really had pizza too many place here in Toronto, but I definitely like Amato, although I'm disappointed they don't sell the Capri (tomato sauce, mozza, chicken, green onion, mushroom, rosemary & goat cheese) in slices anymore! There's a few places that have been on my "eat there" list for a while, but I've just never gotten around to it.

the best pizza i've ever eaten comes from martino's in chicago, up by peterson and kimball. i've only had their thin crust, cause **** that deep dish sauce on top bull****.

that's a little deeper into class warfare than i am prepared for, as i'm not really sure what Ashton is. I'm just saying that the few times i've been to QC, it's much easier to find a hot bowl of poutine than a decent slice.

Bacci's pizza is nothing special- just huge (although not like thouse freakish slices from Montreal.) I forgot all about Pizza Metro! My main reason for going there was the smoking hot Italian waitress(who's Surly steamroller I have tuned up at my shop :D)

In Columbia Mo, Shakespeare's if you've got cash to blow, and Gumbys if you're on a budget.
