in NYC, two boots and PIE have good vegan slices. most real italian pizza spots'll have decent to really good margherita slices though.

I'l start: Chicago - Downtown, Reggie's (back of Alcock's bar on Van Buren) Wicker Park, Santullo's ($2 slice between 4-6pm) Biggest slice, Bacci (everywhere) Pizza Metro on Division just W. of Ashland... made by real live Italians. |

Two boots is way fricking overrated. Mad expensive and not even that good. Stick to moon pie on 3rd and c. Two bucks for a bigass, delicious slice. In London (which not surprisingly has completely crap pizza unless you wanna spend a grand) city pizza on pentonville rd has 7 inch pizzas for a pound. Not good by any stretch of the imagination but cheap and it's on my road. |

QC? Poutine? That saviour of working class fare in the white collar snob capitole nationale where the people of the Haute Ville say the people in the Basse are "d'une autre menalité" because they work for a living? Surely you jest, sir/madam! And if you say Ashton, them's fighting words, unless that's the only poute you've ever had, in which case I'm sure it was a revelation, as poutine is about a hundred million times the sum of its parts. Then again, my experience is limited, and hell, they say the best Indian restaurant in Bangalore is in the Holiday Inn, so anything's possible. |
Patsy's up in spanish harlem has great slices, one of the few "legendary"(lombardi's, grimaldi's, etc...) spots that will actually sell slices.
|
1$ slice in manhattan 36,37 or 38 and 8 ave.
|
DiFara's. Way out in the ass end of brooklyn, E 15th and Ave J. Better than any pizza in the world, except possibly in Naples. No exageration. Unlike anything else.
|
I kind of enjoyed pizzadelic as well, but I've only been there once. But you're right, it's not really a "classic pizza". There is definitely a lot of cheap ass food in general in Montreal though, so the fact that there's cheap pizza isn't really that big of a deal.
I'm ashamed to say that I haven't really had pizza too many place here in Toronto, but I definitely like Amato, although I'm disappointed they don't sell the Capri (tomato sauce, mozza, chicken, green onion, mushroom, rosemary & goat cheese) in slices anymore! There's a few places that have been on my "eat there" list for a while, but I've just never gotten around to it. |
the best pizza i've ever eaten comes from martino's in chicago, up by peterson and kimball. i've only had their thin crust, cause **** that deep dish sauce on top bull****.

I'm just saying that the few times i've been to QC, it's much easier to find a hot bowl of poutine than a decent slice. ira, you must have feared that your thread would get detoured back to THE BEST THREAD ON BF. ;) |

In Columbia Mo, Shakespeare's if you've got cash to blow, and Gumbys if you're on a budget.

the pizza there is the bombtastic. square and delicious. there used to be a scooter shop across the street... too bad it closed cuz i was rooting for a little Italy neighborhood to build up. hope you're feelin better. |
New Orleans: Slice, St. Charles Avenue in the LGD.
|
Ira - You have officially made me miss Chicago.
|
The thing I like about Rosati's Chicago style pizza is that they don't put a crap ton of sauce on top - just a bunch of crushed tomatos! DELISH
|
Candlelite (way, way up Western, in Rogers Park) has my favorite Chicago thin-crust. Really good fries tossed with garlic and red wine vinegar, too.
To this day, my favorite pizza memory is of Pizzeria Regina in Boston, Mass. I ate there when I was about six, and again when I was 18, and haven't been back since, but...damn, the thought KILLS me. |
DiFara's in NYC was a good call by boots. Love that stuff. Nicks in Queens-Forest Hills is good too.
I also love Dino's Bocce Club pizza in Buffalo, NY, possibly more than any pie. |
jumbo slice here is nasty but necessary.
good pizza comes from Pizzaria Paradiso, Matchbox, or Ella's Wood Fire. |
in portland, pizzicato is expensive, but delicious. for cheaper pizza, capt. ankeny's well has delicious pizza, and on wednesdays, all beers on tap are 2.50 a pint, so it's half price for some of them.
pizza schmizza is also good, and i have yet to try pizza oasis. in boise, if ever you're there, guido's on 5th downtown...cheap slices...not the biggest, but delicious. basil pie--yum. |
in Venice CA.- Abbot Kinney Pizza
|
around here it's peppers pizza. great slices, plenty of vegetarian toppings, and one of the best house salads i've had anywhere. down the street, it's italian pizzeria III, or 'IPIII' for short. great place owned and run by an italian family...just don't try to get in when world cup soccer is on.

There's also a place in Manhattan called Slice that has vegan organic pizza... havent tried it out yet. Saw it on food network though. |
SE PDX: Flying Pie
Uber good after about a 75 mile ride that included a 14 mile ascent. Good times. |
i have to try out rovente's sometime. i hear their garlic pizza is perfect for a garlic lover like myself. i say too much garlic is, well...almost enough. almost.
