this may come off as elitist. hell, it may indeed be elitist, but i don't have any desire to chat with the people who don't post regularly on the fixed forum. whether or not there should be, there are, from my observations of the other forums, substantial differences between the people who post here and those who post on the other forums. in many ways, and i think many here will agree with me on this, the singlespeed and fixed gear forum is in many ways very insular and distinct from the rest of bikeforums. i hesitate to call this forum a separate community, because i hate the hippy-ass connotations of the term, but it more or less is.

amen indeed.
and please, let's not start this huge fiasco up again. here there's a distinct community (i'm not into that word much, either, for the same reason as shants), and while i don't mind talking to other riders and post in other forums, i know here there are a lot of things on this forum that just wouldn't make sense to anyone outside this forum. take dustinlikewhat replying with earth crisis lyircs. would anyone in the recumbent thread or even the foo get that? there's a background shared by a lot of us, as well as attitudes, sense of humor, etc. but damn, dude, i don't want to hear this discussion again or see bannings and the word "c*ck" in every other thread just to piss off the mods. |

i like to help people out when they ask educated and marginally intelligent questions, but also like having a place to prattle with other people who are into bikes. i like to think that most people here who post in the "dumber" threads do enough service in the "i need help with bike ****" threads to justify it. stop ****ing *****ing. You may have the best information and the best insight, but if you can't effectively communicate, you might as well not even post. [I call this the CEYA syndrome.] At times, I like this forum A LOT. At other times, not so much. Maybe it is time to move on. |

i sometimes think that the mods just don't get this. |

I think that someone (original poster) needs to lighten up and realize all of the above...

Dude, I don't see how judging CEYA is pertinent anyway, since english is his second language, he is one of the most helpul here, IMHO. How's everyone's japanese? exactly.
With that said, who would win this battle? Honestly. http://homepage.mac.com/rsnyder21016...-vs-slayer.jpg |
