Coast Cycles Stems

Anyone know how to get one of these? I really love the look of the older track stems, but they keep going on ebay for pretty rediculous prices (theres one from the 50s thats up to 260 with the reserve not even met yet). I tried emailing Coast but never got a reply.

Bikes: IRO Angus; Casati Gold Line; Redline 925; '72 Schwinn Olympic Paramount

Probably straight from Coast...I'm sure he could make just a stem. Or am I missing something?

I emailed him asking about it and never got a reply. It's been about a week. I'd love to buy one from him if I could just get ahold of him.

the caption "Custom stems are 1 inch standard quill. Available for track or road. Stems are made of brazed cro-moly tubing." (emphasis mine) makes it pretty clear.

(although if he's nt answering emails that makes it harder)

iirc custom stems run in the ~$200 area

Meh, guess I'll just email him again and hope he replies. 200? Yikes. Maybe I'll keep trying my luck on ebay.

I also make custom quill stems, although I've never had much luck getting results I've been satisifed with working the old Cinelli look that Johnny Coast loves so much. Get in touch through PM if you want to talk about some stuff.

i have a coast frame and (probably) stem on order right now.

i say "probably" because when i visited him last month, he felt he still needed to perfect his stem building and didn't want to definitely offer them for sale yet.

i did see a couple of his prototype stems, including one which was chromed and i can tell you that they're absolutely amazing looking in person.

They sure look pretty on the site. *swoon*

I just hate the ugly road stem I have on my bike now, SIIIIGHHHH. Being crippled makes me wanna upgrade my bike more.

ouch. time to start saving. I can't believe that stems are more than half of the cost of my frame.

you can save by not riding with a frame. just ride a stem.

...and yes, i hate on beautiful, expensive things partly because i can't afford them.
