I was cleaning out my parts bin and found this sub11 1/8" steel cog. A couple years back some tweaky looking guy walked into the bike shop where I was working, with a record/cxp30 wheel with a completely stripped lockring. He said he just kept running it with the same chain until it no longer ran.

Why didn't you throw it away/recycle? Is there a use for such a thing?
