An explanation would be appropriate if you feel like it.

rvabiker 01-29-06 07:28 PM

There is a poll option where people can vote...just saying.

pigmode 01-29-06 07:34 PM

Yeah, this is the first time I've posted a poll. Finally figured it out.

dolface 01-29-06 07:35 PM

in no particular order

campy pista (fluted)
superbe pro
sugino super mighty
da 7600

Plow Boy 01-29-06 07:39 PM

Forgeting some other cranks?

Plow Boy 01-29-06 07:41 PM

dolface beat me to it.

genericbikedude 01-29-06 07:42 PM

stronglight is best bang for buck

Classy choices. This is for my soon-to-be-ordered Nagasawa. I'm torn between good modern parts or great vintage components. My thought to go modern was to maintain a slightly more humble attitude (if that is at all possible with a Nagasawa!)

I'll try to add a vintage option.

Enlighten me. Looks like I can't revise the poll.

slopvehicle 01-29-06 07:49 PM

in a very particular order

165mm road double
170mm road double
175mm mountain triple
one-piece stylee
cottered steel

Plow Boy 01-29-06 08:09 PM

Slopvehicle already nailed the road and mtb cranks.

moki 01-29-06 08:34 PM

c-record pista (oh god)

Yes, I understand. :) I've been with Campy a looong time. It just seems as if this Nagasawa would be best equiped with mostly Japanese parts.

dolface 01-29-06 09:10 PM

i didn't even know that nagasawa was still taking orders...

anyway, my vote is for superbe pro all the way.

popluhv 01-29-06 09:13 PM

Didn't all of the Campy Pista cranks come with the shield, save for the current model?

Not sure about that, but C-Record was the last gruppo that had their highest level of polish.

sabretech2001 01-30-06 12:01 AM

The more times the word "Campagnolo" appears on your bike, the faster it goes.

Really.

I wouldn't make this sort of stuff up.

p3ntuprage 01-30-06 09:43 AM

even the latest campagnolo ones had the shield on them until about 2000

sparky

shants 01-30-06 09:47 AM

superbe pro are flexy deluxe in comparison with the models listed. sugino grand mighty or die. then, da. i would throw campagnolos in the river. **** that ****.

redcurrycelt 01-30-06 05:37 PM

If you see any c-record pista cranks laying around and get the compulsion to huck 'em in the river, post them to me and I'll buy ya a beer next time you're in San Fran. ;)

har har

baxtefer 01-30-06 06:17 PM

those don't seem to be in keeping with the spirit of a nagasawa build.

Currently using:
Campagnolo C-Record Pista 165
Suntour Superbe Pro 165
Sugino Super Mighty 167.5

No complaints about any of them.

sers 01-30-06 10:08 PM

Where can Suntour Superbe Pro's be purchased online? How much do they usually run?

they're not made anymore, and are currently really fashionable. if you can find a set on ebay expect to pay $200 and up depending on length (shorter== more expensive) and condition. there hasn't been a set on ebay for a couple of months iirc.

thrilhou 01-31-06 02:15 PM

depends on the bike

I presently ride with SuginoRD 130mm BCD crankarms.
Because of this, I have a basket full of 130mm BCD chainrings, including several Biopace chainrings, which I love.

John Dace at Businesscycles has Stronglight track cranks with 130mm BCD spacing.

http://www.businesscycles.com/tcr-stronglight.htm

They weigh 75 grams less than my SuginoRD's and cost $117 for the crankarms only.
