Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bikes: I have more bikes than fingers. So I can't count em

Longest fix ride so far

This afternoon I finished my lates project and took her out for a stroll. I ended up doing about 30 miles on road and about eight on a single track. Samuel Adams helped relax my quads when I got back home. Thank god for that nector that Sam Adams provides.

mtn bikes suck.

i rode my friends last week from redondo beach to santa monica with a short beer break, forward on to the track races in carson.

their "leisurely" ride was my spin-a-thon for 60 miles all day.
unhappy body part on my saddle.

super happy to be riding in socal instead of mpls.
so all was good.

as was unhappy body part massage, later (thanks m.)

'cept mtn bikes suck.
(apparently we're supposed to meet in another forum?)

; )

Last thursday after the prospect park races. In complete mileage it wasn't so bad (uptown manhattan->Brooklyn->Back), but I swear there was a 15mph headwind each way, and the upper 20 degree weather certainly made it feel like the longest ride ever.

who's in on making it acceptable to include ss or fixed mtn bikes round these parts?
getting all sorts of negative responses.
i'm all about ss or fixed whatever yer destination.
i just happen to find that doing it on the singletrack or park walls or anything inbetween is a whole lotta fun, too.
i even wear un-hip bike short things while doing it.
or even riding to work.
for whatever that's worth.
"single" should not equal one's values.

my bottom side is far more comfy in un-hip attire,
this i know.
