p.s. you ride on your roof? hardcore. especially if it's an a-frame house.

I live in a run down converted factory building. My roof is about the size of a football field.

I know the secret-- it's that oh-so-important Vegan Saddle!

I promise you that almost anyone that can ride fixed gear bicycle could skid an 82 gear inch with one unlipped foot as long as they unweight the rear properly. It isn't a thing of strength but of technique.

funny how you say that, cause i taught a friend the mechanics of skidding and he tried it without clips and did it one footed. on top of that, he learned it in 5 mins. So, go figure. some people just have mad skillz.

Yeah what's with these guys. I've been running 81-82 inches for a year and have never had a problem skidding, I can do it in the saddle if need be, although adrenaline probably has something to do with that when it happens. Also not too much of a problem skidding on my older fix at 86 inches, although a bit tougher. Not to sound like I'm trying to be a badass, but just sayin' it ain't that bad. At all.

Its not that hard I've been toe clipless since mine snapped on me..about 8 months ago.. But clips don't realy matter when your skidding you just have to lock your legs up

I saw a lot of fixies w/o brakes or straps when I was last in Brooklyn. I thought it was just a NY thing, and I guess they have few hills to contend w/ out there.

FWIW, I think that's a really nice shade of purple, and I like whatever that thing he's got going on the seat tube. With a few modifications, that could end up a pretty nice lookin bike.
