if you're a chemist you could work for Amgen and make us all EPO...
actually i have some chemist friends who work there and love it. |
I am a chemist. I am looking for a job. I was playing in a field which was "artificially narrowed". Hence, I'm free and looking for a job, a lady-friend and possibly a new home. If I'm free I may as well enjoy it.

It's weird....I used to think of LA/SoCal as being the single LAST place I'd ever want to live. For many of the fallacious reasons listed above. Lately, however, I've been thinking that it's probably pretty great. Warm, sunny, the OCEAN, wimmin, etc.
Plus, I feel like the hipster problem isn't nearly as bad as it is in the Greater Northern Cities. Everyone's bros in SoCal. |

Hating on LA is so late-90s. Hating on SF is all the rage now.
BTW, I am the SF treatment. Not really, but there's a hipster mecca bar right downstairs from my recording studio, and there is some serious velopr0n parked outside that place nightly. All manner of slicked-up tracks, vintage tracks, blingers, beaters, everything. What I wonder is how long it's going to take for the new NYC bike trend (jacked-up old cruisers with mattress saddles.. they were EVERYWHERE when I visited for nye) to get here. Now THAT'd be rediculous. 50lb bike + 35% grade hills = no bueno |
sweet I thought I was the only chemist....I don't know anything about california
|
Like most of LA the bike community has small groups in many different places.. I moved back to So Cal for family and weather.. It's 5pm right now and 83 degrees in February. My night ride will consist of me needing a long sleeve jersey and that all, no tights, long fingered gloves..

If you do end up moving here, you may want to get a geared bike as well. Certain parts of town have more hills than others. Commuting can be a challenge as well.

Biking on my fixed gear in L.A. in the early 60s was hip and cool. (ok I was 3 years old, on a trike, but it was still cool !)
