Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Now time for a very important question:
What's the best place near prospect park to get a pizza slice?

hmmm, your best bet is to hit up 7th ave in Park Slope - but I am not sure where the good 'uns are.

There's a pizza spot at 7th ave/9th st.

from the looks of that bulky helmet, that may have been lucas brunelle, neither a tool nor a *****, and most certainly filming.

That's Lucas who's an obvious exception (everybody loves his videos, why wouldn't someone want him riding/filming monster track?).

I'm sure if you brought a road bike and had no intention of winning/placing the organizers wouldn't give you too much grief, but I doubt there are more than two people who are going to do that.

Riding with a brake? Maybe more.

If you wanna ride with a brake or with a road bike or with anything other than a brakeless fixie, work a checkpoint. Otherwise, I'll door you with someone else's car. And I don't think you want that.

if you really want to (or have to) ride braked/geared, you should show up pay the fee and wait 5 or 10 minutes after the start then go, you'll probably catch up to some of the slower (probably be around the middle by the finish line) racers and you won't miss any of the checkpoints. otherwise there will be more alleycats in new york later this year.

lets not ruin this once a year race by encouraging brakes and gears, that would defeat the whole purpose of monstertrack and it becomes just another race. I say just take the brakes off and take it easy or wait till the next race in NYC.

+1. brakeless geared road bikes are the way to go! its the best compromise of both worlds. take off those brakes and good luck.

don't you EVER forget my underscore, mother****er. Do you know what that underscore represents? It represents YOU, lying on the ground, gasping desperately for air, having made a feeble, futile attempt to catch me. Never forget that. Don't EVER forget my underscore!

Rockstar Bar / Rocky's. Capone's is a different place, and it's not happening there.
