Pista envy
I have always envied you, beautiful chrome Pista owners. This is as close as I coud get. I haven't got these smooth welds, I will have to deal with ornate lugs this thing come with.
Faded sticker on the seat tube says "Reynolds 531 guaranteed doubly butted, butted stays" and some other things which are illegible. I will post better images when I build it up.

oh ****. i didn't see this.
i too have a polrad...
i can't find any info on it at all.
no years of production, location (other than germany)
or history. the headtube reads "radsport" which i know transaltes
into "cycle racing" and the downtube reads "polrad" which all i can figure
means magnet wheel or fly wheel.
anyone? anything?

i still think a pista frame with good parts is good for the money. this, on the other hand, is flat out bee-yoo-ti-ful.

I spoke w/ Mr. Bayliss at length about his replicas. He's got several right now...next one is a Confente, but it may be a year or two before he finishes. He only makes them for personal use, and puts marks on them that those in the know would recognize as his in case they ended up in someone else's hands and they tried to sell them as the original.

In my humble opinion, and I am admittedly biased because I have known him for years, Baylis is THE MAN. Sascha White from Vanilla is rapidly becoming my new favorite. The guy is insane with what he is doing. I have a feeling even Baylis would say "wow" to some of the things White is doing. White seems like a pretty humble and mellow guy too... and that goes a long way.

That's really going slow. I just got the front wheel (high flange super record laced to insanely light tubular rim, waiting for a matching rear, counting money for record fluted cranks, some brooks will be in order as well as chrome pista bars - this is getting expensive. In the mean time my conversion (main bike) is undergoing rear end relaacement after an accident last year, and I am riding road colnago equipped with suicide hub and cross tubbies - the f@#$# winter with a foot of snow is still here.
All in all, you wanna pics? you have to be patient.
