I apologize for getting the the Craigslist /Ebay sticky shut down for now.

I couldn't stand by while we are put down like rabid dogs or some juveniles with no sense of responsibilities.

i dont think anyone will hold it against you. it seems like this whole mod ruling runs into some sticky problems with proving culpability

situation A
1) user finds ebay sale, which, unbeknownst to her, is being sold by a BF member.
2) user posts ebay sale

situation B
1) BF member contacts other BF member, telling her to post his ebay listing
2) user posts ebay sale

the end result, presumably, is the same, and as long as no record of the communication exists, there's no way to prove that the person didn't just find it on ebay. i understand why the mods want to not allow situation B, but it seems nearly impossible to prevent without removing situation A as well

eh, i don't think it was your fault, you and koffee are both, shall we say strong-willed? people, and something had to give ;)

i hope the thread will be back, after some things get clarified by joe, until then, i set up a forum for ebay/cl stuff if anyone wants to use it

I think what drive Koffee (and possibly other moderators) around the bend are the following situations:

Situation A
1. user finds ebay sale, which is being sold by a BF member known to the user.
2. user posts ebay sale identifying seller as a BF member

Situation B
1. user finds ebay sale, which, unbeknownst to him, is being sold by a BF member.
2. user posts ebay sale
3. BF member posts a response saying: "That's mine, dude!"

Situation C
1. user finds ebay sale, which, unbeknownst to him, is being sold by a BF member.
2. user posts ebay sale
3. Another BF member posts a response saying: "That's BF member's, dude!"

Probably, if we cut that out, everything would be cool.

Please don't take the name of Outkast in vain. They are cooler than that.

but it seems like situation my situation B still violates the intent of the rule, which is to stop people from advertising personal items without being paid members and posting in the "for sale" forum. it just makes it so that the person who is selling is unknown, but the advertising is still there.

though i guess someone could probably make a good argument that if its fixed related and not a piece of junk, then it'll end up on the thread even without the seller secretly ghost-posting it.

There was a gang named that here in NY so it didn't apply to the music group . The gang was a HS juvie group in the 80s.

But I will change it if it offends you.

Yeah, if it's vaguely related to track bikes, it will end up posted here. Most of the time I try to post something, I find that someone has already beat me to it.

Don't trip. I think the biggest problem is we don't have an insider as a mod.... I wish there was a die hard ffsg moderator who was willing to just dedicate themselves to this subforum and politely police....

*shrug* wouldn't be the same without ya. I don't know you, dont talk to you, but theres a few people who post up here and with them I hang on to every word. You are one of them. My bike gets me around, I'm ****ed without it (carless comuter for life, never even bothered getting a lisence). I need to know the things I learn here. You get booted for a craigslist/ebay thread, well... thats just a waste. you wanna get booted, you should cause some *real* trouble first....

the whole drama over that thread is so inane. Deffinately if you want to sell something drop the change and donate to BF but all the problems that arise from people not knowing (has anyone posted their **** with malicious intent?) could be solved if we had an insider who was willing to take the time to police. It's just dumb.

There is awhole lot of knowledge here that overs the same things I know from racing to messengers to keirin.

Posting an ebay or craigs listing that is, track related -and- there not being a chance that it is a forum member, is like tossing a rock into water and thinking it won't get wet. If a couple of whiners have a problem with it, don't click the link. You'll find that it is a wonderfully empowering action.

I fear the day that CEYA is not a poster. Same goes for a number of posters. Too much knowledge, too much experience, to much character.

i don't want to see ceya leave. he doesn't post as much as some of us, but his posts mean more...

i don't look at that thread much (lack of money), but from what i gather, it seems like some mistakes were made and lines crossed and people did things they weren't aware they shouldn't have done because they didn't know whose auction/listing it was. hell, even i'd have a hard time knowing.

but it's hard to prove they don't know. i don't know what happened with ceya and koffee, but as for the rest of the forum, why not give the benefit of the doubt?

i really respect ceya's knowledge...*sigh*....

Please. Chill. Ceya made his own bed and has something going on in his mind. Whatever is going on there, it's got nothing to do with me, this forum, or whatever was going on in that thread. If he leaves, it's of his own volition. No one's mentioned anything about a BAN or anything close to it but him. So if you must be angry, get angry at him. I guess mentally, he's banning himself. Go off on him.

As far as insider moderators, we choose moderators partially based on the number of forums they frequent. Very few members in this forum seem to leave this forum and participate elsewhere. That (in our eyes) would make you less of a valuable contributor as a moderator. There are other attributes we look at, but flexibility and a willingness to frequent other forums and interact with other members is always part of the discussion.

I do participate in other forums on BF.

There I contribute info as I have it.

In this forum, I see a lighthearted combination of info and Foo.

Would we shut down DW's thread about his ill daughter because it is not bike relateted?

Well, the consensus with the other mods is to keep that thread closed. Closed it shall remain, especially since not one person here's bothered to show me that there's a modicum of understanding about what happened with that thread, and clearly, there doesn't seem to be any movement towards compliance or acceptance of what I stated in the other thread.
