Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I'm looking to start a bike gang...The B-ville Ching-a-Ling Hustlaz

This would be the type of bike gang that wears back patches, once they are created - and goes to a dive bar and plays pool and intimidates everyone else there - like "hit on your girlfriend and you ain't gonna do **** cos you'll get a pool stick across your back" sort of intimidation. We will also do Toys for Tots to keep it legit.

You need to satisfy one of the two requirements:

1.) you ride a fixed gear bicycle
2.) you are a somewhat attractive female that is willing to get skanked up and talk trash, like how bad any one of us will kick someone's ass.

The first 15 people to join will not have to kill a SUV driver to have the choice of getting beat or ****ed in.

Faster Mustache. Though I sort roll with a faction of it called 12" Cog.

In ATL, there is also WOF (Wheels of Fire), and Sopo (South of Ponce).

I'm actually rather suprised that living in Richmond you havn't run into any Cutthroats. They are numerous and fairly visible.

I occasionally ride with a couple of other people, and we call ourselves the Pissed Off Bastards. It was originally the name of a motorcycle club which evolved into the Hell's Angels.
We aren't really pissed off or bastards as far as I know. I just like the name.

this spring will be the start of some regularly scheduled riding on Chicago's south side. I am making bike polo mallets out of old golf clubs from the thrift store right now and there will be foot down and other random bike riding tom-foolery

yeah, I am setting half of them up to fall apart mid match to give one team the upper hand, but alas, said team might get angry and impail the now winning team with sharp spears. It is kinda tricky, but do stand the abuse, but probably not for a really long time........on second thought, anyone got ideas of inexpensive mallets to play with

we used old golf mallets and 6" sections of PVC pipe. they held up okay until some ****er with a nosejob started destroying them. now half are chipped and the pvc needs to be replaced. i wasnt there for the construction, but basically its the pvc drilled with two holes, attached to the golf mallet with a screw and a couple washers.

edit: challenge as in, DC will play Chicago in polo next time enough of you/us are visiting.

yeah, thats basically what I have going on, but also trying one or two with big pieces of dowel rod......

[edit] sounds like a plan, but you all have been playing for alot longer than we will have been playing...I can see the handicap being worked out in sparks consuming, one more or one less depending on the weather

Did you know that there is already a good-sized group of South side polo players? Ask around at the next TdC race, you will be suprised.

I never said anything about other gangs...we play footdown/polo with the cutthroats all the time. GRCD is putting on a polo tournament in a few weeks...I wouldn't call the sprint club kids a crew though. They are more like a bunch of different kids from other crews that get together to race in the spring and summer.
