South side? South side bike culture? Community? Oh, I am so down. I'm sitting here PMing with Spud in DC about the pirates, and I'm thinking we need something on the South Side. We need some love down here, too. Some stupidity. Some drinking. Some wheels. More wheels. We have to get this off the ground!

You know what's funny? In 1981 in Southern California, this photo could have easily passed for a photo of a bunch of hardcore punk rockers at a gig. For some reason--possibly because nobody else under 40 wore them at the time--dress shirts with vertical stripes, obtained at thrift stores and worn with the shirttails out, were the height of punk fashion.

that was our banner for RVA Cycleslaughterama '05. We had actual bike part weapons and helmets with chainrings, pedals, etc. in them, and battle horns made out of chopped handlebars and 2 liter soda bottles.

My Canadian pal richie and i are the core of Team XTreem Thursdays. Basically we used to both have thursdays off and we would try and get other people on fixedvancouver to come climb Mount Seymour and/ or Cypress Mountain under the XTreem Thursdays theme. Our fellow Vancouverite morgman/ bcdub became the president of this team last year when he came up with us and climbed and descended seymour (1000 vertical metres, 7% average grade) on a brakeless khs with b123's.

No name here, we just meet up and ride. Hit the rooftop parking garage for tricks and racing as well as random bike related shenanigans and alcohol consumption.
