I'm drinking "El Tesoro" right now, it's a 100% agave handmade reposado. i brought it back from mexico

It's off the chain. one of the most delicious sprits i've ever had.

wine:
I work as a sommeiler, so whatever glasses of wine clients pour me. otherwise when it's for me, chianti, douro (portugal), oregon pinot, australian grenche and syrah.......actually i'll drink anything i can get my hands on.

A gin and tonic made with Hendricks. Amazing.

El Tesoro? Yep, great stuff. I've bought a few bottles myself.

And being a sommeiler you gotta know your stuff. The singer in my old band worked
as one and various other wine industry gigs. He always had the best wine... although back
then I barely knew what was what in terms of wine.

Jesus. I'm talking about wine in the FG/SS forum... something's wrong with me.

gregtheripper 02-17-06 12:43 AM

hmmmm i guess it depends

i drink mostly beer. if i am out i like to get the deals. $2 anything. in terms of beer i like to try diff sixers, my faves are brooklyn, harpoon anything, and sierra nevada pale ale. i keep pbr around because its cheap and i dont mind the taste (currently what is in my hand). for wine i drink anything that is red (raised on it mother****ers). the only liquor i like is whiskey, but i will drink any kind as long as it's not a shot. indeed.

Beer: IPA (Dogfish Head 120 Minute), Victory V12, Yards, almost anything Belgian
40oz.: Steel Reserve
Wine: Really earthy cabernet-based Bordeaux, like Château Haut-Brion
Gin: Sir Robert Burnett's London Dry Gin, straight up, on the rocks
Vodka: Grey Goose
Mixed Drink: dirty Churchill-style gibson: Sir Robert Burnett's gin + olive brine + one olive + one cocktail onion + look at a bottle of dry vermouth.

Yuengling is my favorite every-day beer, but that's because I'm from Philly, where Yuengling is cheaper (and better) than bottled water. The fact that one can walk into any Philly-area bar, simply say, "Lager, please," and be served a Yuengling, is awesome. Most people I've met from out of Philly have never even tasted Yuengling, let alone know how to pronounce it.

The Czeck stuf is crap, and that's what represents 95% of the market. If you can find it, get La Bleue, but that's an underground brand (it's illegally produced in Switzerland). The Spanish brands (like Albertson) are generally considered good.

I just can't resist doing 5 posts in a row (never done that before). Sorry, it's 3:30am EST and I've been out drinking. This thread is perfect.

I think I'm the only person from Philly who can't stand Yuengling. I'm a dedicated Yards drinker. Unless I can afford something Belgian.

And Lagavulin is the best scotch. Ever. Although certainly any whisky is better than no whisky. Evan Williams is cheap and tolerable.

Smorgasgeorge 02-17-06 08:41 AM

Out of the bar: 40's of Hurricane and Coqui 900
In the bar: Banker's Club Whiskey and ginger ale. It's free, so I can't complain. All I have to do is tip.

anyone from/near PA should go to the Victory Brewery this weekend -- they're celebrating their 10th anniversary, complete with BEERathlon!
http://www.victorybeer.com/Events/10_anniversary.html

gonna be there tomorrow to watch amateur barmaids go t!t a t!t:

The three women’s tasks will include the Braumeister Barmaid Contest, Victory Brewing Product Identification Challenge, and the very special Golden Monkey Musical Chairs event. The Braumeister Barmaid Contest will be a test of serving, spillage, and speed, while the Victory Brewing Product Identification will challenge contestants on their Victory beer knowledge. Lastly, Golden Monkey Musical Chairs will be an ordeal of agility and courage. Scoring, as with the men, will be the result of combined points from each event.

& they're unveiling their 10 Year Alt:
