Ok I want some clarifications. I intend to reopen and or remake the cl/Ebay thread. Rules are simple. These are going to be very exact. And if you try to avoid them your post will be removed, period, no whining like a baby please. I like the idea of this thread but the niceness gets abused by people trying to bypass the rules. Can we follow these

1) items are not yours for sale.
2) its a sticky to post items of interest or necessity
3) You are not simply posting a post of a bike your buddy is selling and then he comes on saying the price. This is clearly break rule 1.
4) To be more clear, you CANNOT SELL YOUR ITEMS in this thread. This thread, if it happens again, is, again to clarify, for items of interest. Do not try to bypass the buy sell forum requirements within the thread.
5) One other ruleset. The mods, in discussion will close the thread at any given point to restart it. The explicity reasoning for this is the vast size of the thread can become unwielding and too much work. This will be done with the knowledge a new thread will be started. With a simple link to the past closed thread.

Extra Notes
So far so good, expect this back up tommorow. As for all the people looking for loopholes in the rules. Rules come with intentions on honesty, if you plan to walk around the rules and find holes, expect the rule original intentions to be enforced. Those rules don't leave much to the imagination, if you break, don't expect your post to last a long time. I hope thats clear enough for you.

If we can all play by the rules I have no issues starting a new ebay/cl thread.

Cheers

Maelstrom

thanks!

clarification...

can items for sale by non-red-star members be posted by another BF-er IF there is no mention (in the original or susequent posts) of the ownership of the item up for sale (regardless of the poster's relationship with the seller/BF member?)

Maelstrom, you rule.

Let make it clear that even if your sale item does get posted by someone that sees it, keep quiet and don't claim it. I think the key here is annonymity(spell check?).

If you post something knowing that it is another bf member's item but they don't know you are posting it...how would anyone know? Just don't read to much into the rules and you can't go qrong.

So if you have something listed on ebay you can't, post it here so people know about it?
Thanks for the clarification. I just need to know if I need to make another user name and password so I can list my stuff here with out people thinking I am listing it for my self. oh and what if say my girlfriend has a e-bay and she list's all this stuff for me can I come here and tell you guys about it.? Just thought I would ask..

eric, you'd be breaking rules 1 and/or 3. don't push it.

every listing on ebay gets picked up and placed in that thread anyhow, it's not like you even need to post your own stuff. and if the thing you are selling is extra sweet, a bunch of people will post it at the same time and there will be three threads of debate about it. there really isn't a reason to push your own auctions.

Schnayke, if you're joking, that's a bad joke. And it's the type of joke that could kill this for the rest of us. Don't do that.

If you're not joking, well, I hope you don't have access to any sharp instruments. You may well be a danger to yourself and others.

Thanks.

In a lot of ways, the ebay/cl thread is the most useful on the boards--we all buy parts and bikes, and having discussion about parts I might want has been super helpful.

Cheers!

Maelstrom,

Thank you very much for giving us another shot. It really is a pretty useful and entertaining thread.

I don't mind at all having my former signature made obsolete. On that note, I'd like to point out that as soon as I changed my sig to "Free PistaBoy," the little guy reappeared. Now this . . .

Just sayin'

you still need to put "DON'T POST YOUR STUFF FOR SALE IN THIS THREAD!" in the title. otherwise, in a month when this thread is 50 pages deep, someone new to this site will post their items without ever looking at the first page.

let me tell you this, Schnayke, 2 logins is a big no no. Beyond the rules of the thread, you would be breaking the rules of the board...does that answer your question clearly enough?
