Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Its awesome. Best decision I have ever made. Skidding is about 10x easier with the additional platform, and I feel like I have a lot more control doing trackstands and just in general now that I have a pedal that contacts my shoe, as opposed to the Eggbeaters I had prior. Very solid feeling, and zero problems with pedal strike. Its inspired confidence to the point where the front brake may just have to come off.

why would the front brake need to come off?

It doesn't need to, its just that much easier to skid to a stop consistently.
