Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I bought my track bike for its simplicity, this contraption would cleary condradict my original reason for buying the track bike.

But, i would say, it would be nice to free wheel around some of those sharp corners that are taken just a wee bit too fast, that make you think, holy crap, how did i make it outta that turn with my fixie.

I think it could be marketed as a training bike for road racers. It would also be more useful if, instead of a button, the freewheel were engaged by pulling the break lever. That way when someone tries to slow down using the break, they are not fighting the spinning cranks.

i never do but i know a lot of people do flip it around. if this was a double sided hub it would be great for long distance/touring.

^^^^^now there's some thinkin' @popluhv^^^^^
Now who's gonna test pilot it?
What if it were wireless and controlled by the coach in the car?
