I have seen one like these (looking like a complete bike form 20'. funny brakes included) in Toulouse, France at a flea market. The ingenious gearbox provided the power either to the rear wheel (fixed!) or to the sharpening stone. Sort of regret I haven't bought it then.

that would make for a gnarly accident if it got switched mid ride.
