Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bikes: Surly-steamroller-S*** Brown color

If your still trying to go the DIY route.
I recomend using Upholstry thread for all seaming.
#12 needle s/b good with that thread.
Its the most readilly available thread that can withstand the abuse that an average bag goes through.
Coats and Clark makes the most commercially sold Upholstry Thread.
Good luck

i am for sure NOT one of the pros... but i did make a bag.

some of(most of) the stitching is super sloppy, but i think i did all right for my first time sewing.

i also made a little cell phone case and im gonna work on a tool bag thingy today.

Hey, looking good! I like the color scheme, and appliques like that are always nice - they make the bag stand out as unique. And you got the placement of the taillight attachment right. Some bag makers get that totally wrong - it has to actually be on the bottom, or else the light points into the sky.

The first bags I made were hip packs which no one will ever see . I store my sewing supplies in them.

When I worked as a sailmaker we used Heminway & Bartlett polyester thread (UV protected) and Consew machines. Not sure about the overall quality of Consew, but the machines we had were fast and strong with great adjustability.
