Craigslist is like the one-stop for anything sf related but I mean if you get here and are couch surfing for a while, it helps to ride around some neighborhoods you want to live in and see if there are any For Rent signs are posted. How much are you willing to pay for rent?

Revit 03-28-06 07:54 PM

craigslist.

monstertrack 03-28-06 08:03 PM

im willing to pay no more than 500
my ttrouble is what neighbor hoods are okay and which ones i wont want to live in.

jitenshako 03-28-06 08:28 PM

I'm actually still trying to find a place. But this is pretty nice...it combines cg and googlemap. I'm personally using this to find some places.

are you looking for a roomate also?

katio 03-28-06 09:07 PM

Well the three neighborhoods to avoid would be: the tenderloin (listed as civic/van ness on CL), hunters point/bayveiw and parts of the western addition. Beware HP and Bayview are really cheap but ultra sketch. Anywhere else you're golden. The Mission gets all the sun, Sunset is close to the beach but gets all the fog first, North Beach and Mission have lots of fun nightlife and the Richmond... well it's the Richmond, there's not much more to say about it. The standard two room is prolly 1200 to 1500 and three is atleast 2000, so find some flat mates. Once you get a job here though, it'll be all good in the hood what with the $8.82 minimum wage; if you haven't turned corporate yet...

live in berkeley or north oakland, its an easier way to get your feet wet in what its like to live in the bay area.

tenderloin is one of the best neighborhoods to live in in sf. close to everything and still pretty cheap.

If you want to pay less than 500 you'll probably have better luck in Oakland.
