Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Sounds good. More people is better. The forecast for Saturday is clear so I think we're not too worried about a rain date. I'll PM you my number just in case though.

See you tomorrow at 9.

woohoo!

Wow bicycle computers are more complicated than I remember. I'll have this thing calibrated before I go to bed. Looks like the weather is gonna be in our favor. Cold, but nice.

YEAH!

I have a new personal record: 130 miles! Double metric century.

Good job bonelesschicken and gorn on the century. We kept up a furious pace, averaging ten miles an hour even with ample stoppage. +1 to Ross (bonelesschicken) who did this all brakeless. What a beatiful route too, I can't wait to go out there again. OK OK I can wait like a month to go out there again...but after a month...I'm game.

Damn you beat me. According to my calculations I only did 129 miles. Still > 200km though!

Great ride!

at least you got to talk about bikes, I talked about lumber and drywall. Granted, I've got a soft spot for 5/8" 4'x8' MR drywall.

Ooh and to all concerned regarding long rides: May 13th, or 16th I can't recall exactly, Ira is going down to Indiana dunes to kick off his year long tour. I think it would be awesome to ride out there with him, camp a night, and come back (possibly taking south shore or metra on the way back). Hopefully there will be a thread coming on this soon.

BonelessChicken was the only guy with a camera, he will post them, once he finishes icing those knees probably.

Man I've got to buy one of those camera-doodads they are pretty nifty.

yeah, the camera is this nifty little thing some guy invented a while back, you should pick one up sometime.

As for my new bike, I need a commuter so the Milwaulkee is going to stay as is. The Vivalo is getting new track happyness........slowly but surely. Rims and hubs this week and next, then bars, stem and grips in a few weeks, then the cranks, pedals, straps, cages, chain and cog. Then seat and seatpost.

Glad to hear the ride was nice, jealous I could not really do any riding with anyone on the forums this weekend. Did go out to the suburbs and ride a bike trail with genesis and that was very very nice.

Elgin? I was there yesterday. Sweet town, or at least the riverboat/downtown area of what we saw.
