Skid patches widget

For all the mac lovers:
A friend of mine has programmed a widget that will calculate the number of skid patches for a given cog/chainring combination:

You can download it here

If you like it, give him some feedback.

Awesome! It couldn't be too much trouble to add a gear inch calculator to that, would it?

We can't help it, can we!

Actually you can select if you want the output in meters or inches. But it does NOT calculated the gear inches, but how many meters/inches you will move forward with one rotation of your crank.

Bikes: Surly Long Haul Trucker set up for commuting and loaded touring, old Sekine road frame converted to fixed-gear, various beaters and weird bikes, waiting on the frame for my Surly Big Dummy build

The proper term for that is meters of development, which is a common european measurement.

And thanks, onetwentyeight.

Bikes: heh, like that info would fit here...

from the looks of your first shot the widget assumes ambidextrous skidding, I think. Not sure how accurate that is.

Eh, well my bikes all have one long skid patch that runs the circumference of the tire, but the vast majority of folks I've seen riding skid on one dominant foot. The folks that are good enough/experienced enough to go with both feet don't need a computer program to tell them how many skid patches they have...

None if you scout out the LBS dumpster for lightly used swap outs!

Did anyone else have problems with downloading this?

oh and 12XU all they would need to do is ad an input field for how often you skid (with options for if you do it switch) multiplied by the type of ground you skid on all cross-referenced with an invetory of all types of tires and their current selling prices (plus shipping and handling if you need to mail order)

I believe you need to be rocking a mac to get widgets to work, but maybe I'm not up on the computer game as much as I used to be.
