Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

uh....pegoretti anyone?

coz i live close to montanovelo i get to see the nice pegoretti's in stock..all of it mostly super expensive ass road gear but its all super amazing. the frame quality, and paint jobs are super interesting, contemporary and drool inducing. so out of curiosity i looked up the site to see if they made a pista frame...and they do damnit, they do!

peep' em:

now if i only had a few thousand laying around to get one..the road frame/fork alone goes for 4k alone.

the really cool thing about pegoretti's is the fact that oversized tubing does not=alum. it can be steel!

there are so many things wrong with that maroon bike. cheapo seatpost collar? not lugged? the seatstays / fork end / chainstay area is also really ugly. the white bike looks sooooo much better all around, plus lugged steel is always more hype than non. heck, the maroon bike could almost be a repainted steamroller...

i dunno dude. the maroon one has me jumping a bit. it looks like a better c'dale if anything. and its handmade in italy and custom fitted. and the lugged one althogh really nice sort of looks like every other vintage track bike on ebay imo. over all, i love everything this company does.

If I'm going to drop 4k on a frame/fork it's damn well going to be a Sachs.

oh no! how could i have so flagrantly misinterpreted your cunning and wit? the "bar" dig is was so clearly related to my thoughts on the bike, i'm baffled as to how i missed what you were trying to say!

long story short, the bike may ride great, but for $4000, you most certainly understand that aesthetics and design choices are relevant as well as the fact that the bike is custom made and fitted (which, of course, is nice). simply put, however, the white bike smokes the maroon bike in every way.

watching people get pissed during arguments over aesthetic opinions will always be hilarious to me.

dude a: "that's ugly"
dude b: "lay off the pipe. what you like is ugly."
dude a: "well i think you're ugly."
dude b: "your mother."

Good god, where can I get my hands on the Campy Pista rims? They're beautiful and I would literally pay through the nose for them.
